Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Your safari begins with a pick-up from Kigali city or the airport by your driver guide. After a short briefing, you will set off on a scenic drive towards Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. Along the way, enjoy views of green hills, local villages, and beautiful countryside landscapes. Upon arrival at your lodge, check in and relax while preparing for the exciting gorilla trekking adventure the next day. Dinner and overnight stay near the park.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Community Visit
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by rangers. You will then begin your guided gorilla trek through the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains. The trek may take a few hours depending on the location of the gorilla family, but the moment you meet them is truly unforgettable. Spend one magical hour observing their behavior, watching young gorillas play, and witnessing family interactions in their natural environment.
After the trek and a short rest at the lodge, continue with a community visit. This experience allows you to meet local people, learn about their culture, traditions, and daily activities, and understand how conservation supports surrounding communities. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge before starting your return journey to Kigali. The drive offers more scenic views and an opportunity to reflect on your gorilla trekking experience. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to visit local craft markets or key city landmarks before being dropped off at the airport for your departure.
