Day 1: Kigali Pickup & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport by our professional safari guide. After a short briefing, begin a scenic drive northwards to Volcanoes National Park, passing through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside of green hills and rural villages. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge near the park. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the exciting gorilla trekking adventure the next day. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Community Visit

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by Rwanda Development Board rangers. You will then set off into the forest with experienced guides to track a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek may take a few hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but the reward is priceless—spending one magical hour observing gorillas as they feed, play, and interact in the wild.
In the afternoon, return to the lodge for lunch, followed by a guided community visit. Here, you will interact with local people, learn about traditional lifestyles, cultural practices, and community conservation initiatives. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu & Boat Cruise

After breakfast, depart Volcanoes National Park and drive towards Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s most beautiful freshwater lakes. Upon arrival, check in at your lakeside lodge and enjoy lunch with stunning views of the lake. Later in the afternoon, take a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Kivu, enjoying the calm waters, birdlife, and surrounding hills. You may also engage in optional lakeside activities or simply relax by the shore. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Morning Nature Walk & Return to Kigali

Start the day with a gentle morning nature walk along the shores of Lake Kivu, enjoying fresh air, scenic views, and the peaceful atmosphere of the lake. After breakfast, begin your drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a short city stop before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Rwanda safari.
