This 10-day Rwanda and Uganda safari is designed for travelers who want to experience the very best of East Africa in one journey. The trip combines wildlife viewing, gorilla trekking, scenic landscapes, cultural encounters, and relaxing lakeside moments. You will explore Rwanda’s Akagera National Park and Lake Kivu before crossing into Uganda to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Murchison Falls National Park.
From classic game drives and boat cruises to the unforgettable experience of trekking mountain gorillas, this safari offers a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. Expect diverse wildlife, breathtaking views, and authentic experiences that showcase the natural beauty of both countries.
Upon arrival or pick-up from your hotel, you will begin your journey to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. Enjoy the rolling hills and beautiful countryside along the way. Arrive at the park and settle into your lodge as you prepare for the wildlife adventures ahead.
Spend the day exploring Akagera National Park on a game drive. The park is home to lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and many bird species. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you may spot hippos, crocodiles, and water birds along the shoreline.
After breakfast, depart Akagera and travel towards the peaceful shores of Lake Kivu. The journey offers beautiful views of Rwanda’s landscapes. Arrive and enjoy a calm evening by the lake, perfect for relaxation after your wildlife experiences.
Enjoy a relaxed day with optional activities such as a boat ride to nearby islands, cultural visits to local communities, or simply unwinding by the lakeside. Lake Kivu provides a peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty.
Today you will cross into Uganda and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for mountain gorillas. The drive passes through scenic highlands and rural villages, building excitement for the next day’s adventure.
After an early briefing, head into the forest for gorilla trekking. Guided by experienced rangers, you will search for a habituated gorilla family and spend a magical hour observing them in their natural habitat. Later, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the next part of your safari.
Start the day with a game drive across the savannah plains where elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and lions may be seen. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, known for its large concentration of hippos, crocodiles, and birds.
Travel northwards to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and one of its most scenic parks. The highlight here is the mighty Nile River squeezing through a narrow gorge to create the powerful Murchison Falls.
Explore the park on a morning game drive in search of lions, giraffes, elephants, and other wildlife. Later, take a boat cruise on the Nile River towards the base of the falls, offering great views of wildlife along the riverbanks.
Visit the top of Murchison Falls to witness the dramatic force of the water from above. Afterward, begin your journey to Entebbe for your departure flight, marking the end of an unforgettable Rwanda and Uganda safari.
Known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills”, Rwanda is one of Africa’s most breathtaking destinations. A gorilla safari in Rwanda is an unforgettable adventure, offering the rare opportunity to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
